Congratulations! EcoRegion award went to Väinameri tourism project (Estonia)
Representatives of 11 organisations from all countries around the Baltic Sea were invited to join EcoRegion project partners during their final conference in Gdynia, Poland, on 16 November 2011. Standing for almost 200 good practices on sustainable development in the Baltic Sea Region, which are included in a DATABASE , they were nominated as the 11 best practices, related to different sectors like energy, industry, agriculture, forests, transport, tourism, education and spatial planning. Within the frame of a market place they had the possibility to present their efforts to the audience.
Finally, the award “very best practice” was given to a project on small-scale tourism in the Väinameri area – located in West Estonia, between the major islands and the mainland, representing a rural coastal zone with high nature values.
Toomas Kokovkin from the Estonian Island and Coast Research Centre Arhipelaag received the certificate. It was awarded by Eduardas Borisovas from the Secretariat of the Council of the Baltic Sea States (CBSS).
Congratulations!

The magazine wants to promote the Baltic Sea Region as a wonderful place for tourism. Besides articles about natural and cultural heritage or about contents of AGORA 2.0, you will also find contributions by other stakeholders, for example referring to the Baltic Sea Tourism Forum or to other projects like Parks & Benefits (Baltic Sea Region Programme) or Enjoy South Baltic!
